About SKINS Australia
The founder of SKINS, an Australian skier had an ambition in 1996 to feel ten years younger than he did, so that he could ski all day, party all night and recover to do it all over again the next day.
The SKINS founder knew that improved blood circulation would supply more oxygen to his muscles, helping them work harder for longer and recover faster. So he consulted with NASA and other experts to research further and confirm his belief. He turned out to be right, increased blood circulation supplies more oxygen to muscles, allowing them to work harder and allowing athletes of all abilities to recover quicker.
He launched the brand SKINS and word got out that SKINS improved your power, speed, stamina and recovery. Pro athletes were the first to start wearing them. Before long, amateur athletes joined the party.
SKINS compression is now sold in 31 countries and counting. SKINS have over 160 apparel products and produce a staggering 100,000 units of product a month.
SKINS Compression Research
The research SKINS carries out in the garment development stages allows SKINS to keep pushing the boundaries of technology and compression – leading to the development of dynamic gradient compression, which features in SKINS A400 clothing.
The amount of research published on the functional parameters of SKINS is unrivalled within the sports compression wear industry. So far, ten studies carried out using SKINS compression have been published in independently peer reviewed medical journals.
Published research of this kind has contributed to SKINS being recommended and endorsed by the Australian Physiotherapy Association and qualifying for registration as a therapeutic device by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration.
